Booking & pricing

Budget

What does wedding photography on film cost?

Most full wedding days fall between €3,500 and €4,500, depending on how many hours I'm with you and where you are celebrating. Civil ceremonies, elopements, and intimate weekday weddings start at €1,700. Film, developing and scanning are included. A second photographer, an album, or a Super 8 film can be added to any quote, and everything that's included is on the pricing page.

First steps

How does booking work?

We start by getting to know each other, over coffee in Berlin or on a video call. Choosing a photographer means choosing someone who'll be beside you the whole day, so it should feel right from the very first conversation. When you're ready, a signed agreement and a 30% deposit will reserve your date.

The calendar

How far in advance should we get in touch?

As soon as you like. Six to twelve months ahead is usual, and summer Saturdays go first. I only take on a handful of weddings each year, so if your date is already set, it's worth reaching out even if nothing else is planned yet.

Change of plans

What happens if we need to postpone or cancel?

If your date moves, I'll do everything I can to carry your deposit over to the new date provided I'm available. Full terms are set out in the booking agreement, and I'm always happy to talk them through before you commit.

Standing in

What if you fall ill?

I have a standing arrangement, and it wouldn't be with a stranger: the same photographer who joins me at larger weddings. He has years of experience on film and knows the way I work, so your wedding would still be photographed on film, by someone whose work I trust as much as my own.

Beyond Berlin

Do you travel for weddings?

Gladly, and often. I'm based in Berlin and photograph across Germany and well beyond it: Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Zurich, Copenhagen and Prague are all regular destinations, and most recently a wedding took me as far as Okinawa. Travel within two hours of Berlin is included. For most of Europe it's between €400 and €800 for travel and accommodation, fixed before you book, and I never charge for travel days. Anywhere further I work out a real figure once the dates are set.

The wedding day

Scale

Do you photograph elopements or multi-day weddings?

Yes: a civil ceremony, an elopement, one full day, or a celebration that runs across several days. Short celebrations and multi-day weddings are each priced separately on the pricing page.

The medium

Do you shoot both film and digital?

Just film. It's the way I see weddings. I carry a Contax 645 and a couple of 35mm cameras, and more film than the day could ever use.

Portraits & groups

How do the portraits and group photos work?

These are the only parts of the day I plan. We agree beforehand on the portraits and any group photos you want, so you don't have to think about it on the day. Everything else I photograph as it happens.

At ease

What if we're camera-shy?

Most couples tell me exactly this. I keep the pace calm and give direction only when it helps. I wait, watch, and photograph moments that are already happening. There are no stiff poses, and after the first hour nobody is thinking about me any more.

Language

What if we don't speak German?

Not a problem. Many of my couples are international, living in Berlin or marrying here from abroad. We plan everything in English, and I speak English throughout the day.

Film, delivery & finishing

Numbers

How many photographs will we receive?

You'll receive two galleries. The full one holds around 400 to 500 finished scans from the whole day, all yours to download and keep. The second is shorter, around 50 photographs, carefully sequenced to tell the story of the day. Going through it should feel like the day itself.

Timing

When will we receive our photographs and films?

Film needs some time to be developed and scanned. I send a sneak peek within the first two weeks after the wedding. Both galleries follow within six to eight weeks, together with your Super 8 film if you've ordered one.

The originals

Do we get to keep the negatives?

Yes, all of them. Once your photographs are finished, I hand the originals over to you.

Care

Are the photographs professionally retouched?

Yes, and always gently. Film is kind to skin all on its own. I tidy up small distractions, a stray hair or a blemish. You'll look like yourself.

On paper

Can we order prints and albums?

Yes, and film was made for printing. Ten 18 × 24 cm prints on real photographic paper are already included. The scans print beautifully up to around 30 × 40 cm, and for larger wall prints your originals can be rescanned at higher resolution; medium format enlarges remarkably well. Fine art prints and handcrafted lay-flat albums come from the specialist labs I work with.

Privacy

Will our photographs be published?

Only if you want them to be. Your gallery is private, and I always ask before showing a wedding on the website. Many couples say yes, others prefer to keep the day to themselves, and both are welcome. Couples who say yes receive 10% off their quote.

Still have a question?
